
Course Description: Life, and dentistry itself, are a tapestry of rewards and challenges, but some challenges become life-altering. How do we wear our professional hat while simultaneously grieving, struggling with unexpected life challenges or heartache? Why are some people better lemonade-makers from the lemons of life? Within the family of dentistry, most of us have faced, or will face significant set-backs and difficulties. What are effective strategies to navigate life’s challenges? What can be gleaned from those in the business of not only making lemonade, but benefitting from it? This lemonade recipe may surprise you.
Course Objectives:
- Identify the science supporting savoring as a coping mechanism
- Appraise how neuroplasticity can rewire the mind and promote wellness
- Recognize the role of compassion to help balance professionalism and heartache simultaneously
- Examine the science of gratefulness to navigate stressors, challenges and increase life satisfaction

Karen Davis is owner of her own continuing education company, Cutting Edge Concepts® capitalizing on her breadth of experience in navigating the rewards and challenges dental professionals face. She is a practicing dental hygienist in Dallas, TX and has enjoyed being a part of the same dental practice for over 35 years.
